Dan Bortolotti is the author of nine books of nonfiction and has written dozens of feature articles for magazines and newspapers in Canada and the US.
His most recent book is The MoneySense Guide to the Perfect Portfolio, a handbook for do-it-yourself investors. The revised third edition was published in September 2013.
The third edition of Hope in Hell (Firefly Books), a widely acclaimed portrait of the Nobel-winning humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders, was published in 2010.
Wild Blue, a natural history of the blue whale, was published in the US in 2008 and in Canada in 2009. The Smithsonian Institution has called it “quite simply one of the best books ever written on any whale.”
With over 20 years of experience in the magazine industry, Dan is currently a columnist and consulting editor at MoneySense and has contributed to many other Canadian publications, including Canadian Geographic, Financial Post, Maclean’s, Chatelaine and Reader’s Digest. His work has been nominated for seven National Magazine Awards since 2010. In 2013 he was named financial Journalist of the Year by the CFA Society of Toronto.
Dan is also a licensed investment advisor and writes a blog called Canadian Couch Potato. In 2011, it was selected by The Globe and Mail as the best investing blog in Canada.
